Who We Are
The core team at Synergy is made up of company directors Jane Tunstill and Pamela Meadows who have extensive experience spanning all our areas of work. They are joined by
associate consultants from within the company and
external partners to bring a wealth of specialist knowledge to all our projects.
Jane Tunstill
Jane was previously head of the
Department of Health and Social Care at Royal Holloway, London University, where she was responsible for qualifying and post-qualifying social work education and a large research programme. She holds honorary appointments at the
Social Care Workforce Research Unit at Kings College, London and at
Royal Holloway. Originally a social worker, and then policy advisor, in both the voluntary and statutory sectors, much of her consultancy, evaluative and research activity has highlighted the importance of early intervention and family support services, and of the advantages of multi-disciplinary working. She is actively involved with a range of organisations in the dissemination of knowledge including research and evaluation evidence. She served as a member of the
CAFCASS Management Board, and currently holds appointments on the task group on childhood within the
Marmot Review of Health Inequalities and as a lay member of the
Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Pamela Meadows
Pamela is an economist who specialises in the labour market and social policy issues. She has specific expertise in understanding value for money issues in the provision of services for children and families. She is a Visiting Fellow at the
National Institute of Economic and Social Research. She holds honorary appointments at the
Institute of Children, Families and Social Issues, Birkbeck, University of London and the
Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She previously had a similar appointment at the Arbetslivsinstitutet in Stockholm. She was previously Director of the
Policy Studies Institute and before that spent nearly twenty years as a government economist in both the
Home Office and the Department of Employment (now split between
DWP,
BERR and
DIUS), where she was Chief Economist and Head of Economics, Research and Evaluation.
